As a school shadow you help a child (with special educational needs) during the school day, so that he/she can remain in the main stream education system.
Key Responsibilities:
A School Shadow provides on-on-one support to a student with special educational needs, helping them to navigate the school environment, engage in learning activities, and develop social skills. The shadow works closely with teachers, parents, and other support staff to implement individualized education plans and ensure the student's academic and social success.
Job requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, psychology, social Work or related, is preferred
- Experience in an educational setting or
- Previous experience working with children or individuals with special needs is highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Patience, empathy and a genuine interest in working with children.
- Ability to remain calm and handle challenging behaviors constructively
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
